Where we work

Tree surveys and tree work in Keswick.

Tree surveys, planning tree reports and tree work in Keswick, Derwentwater and the northern Lakes.

We have worked in and around Keswick for many years, for public bodies, businesses and home owners.

Who we have worked for

Our Keswick work includes tree surveys for Keswick Parks, which run the parks in the town, a planning tree survey for site development for Keswick Launch Company, and tree work at Underscar Manor. We know the trees, and the ground they grow on.

Protected trees and conservation areas

Keswick has a conservation area, and the town sits inside the Lake District National Park. Many trees are protected by Tree Preservation Orders. We check before any work, and prepare the application or notification for you where one is needed.

What we do here

  • Tree surveys for parks, campsites, hotels, schools and landowners
  • Planning tree reports (BS5837) for development, with the tree constraints, impact assessment and protection plan
  • Veteran and parkland trees: assessing old trees and advising how to keep them
  • Tree work: felling, sectional dismantling, crown reduction, pruning and hedge cutting

Derwent Isle, Derwent Water

We were asked to carry out a tree survey on Derwent Isle, the historic island in the middle of Derwent Water, owned by the National Trust. The house is Grade II listed and was extended in 1844 by Henry Marshall. It is a private, tenanted home. We had an enjoyable boat ride across on a beautiful autumn day, and enjoyed surveying some spectacular trees. The island is exceptionally beautiful, with some of the largest sweet chestnuts we have seen in Cumbria.

A veteran ash above Derwent Water

This large veteran ash stands on a private estate overlooking Derwent Water and the surrounding fells. It is in significant decline from ash dieback. The client wanted it removed. We pollarded it instead, in the hope that it will regenerate a new crown and develop some resistance to the dieback.
